Sophie joined the group after the 2019 introductory class and has pushed the boundaries of the material that course covered.
Here are some sterling silver rings she has made. The rings in the left hand image have been textured with the rolling mill, one with sandpaper, and two with wire mesh.The right hand image shows stamped rings, suphided to enhance the lettering.
Sophie has then been inspired by the fold forming technique. ‘My flowers are made with copper sheet, passed through the rolling mill to make heistad cups, and fold formed leaves made by forging on the open side, held in a piece of naturally coloured recycled copper hot water tank’.
